Online DXF viewer
Open a DXF file right in your browser: you see the drawing with its size and every hole, and you can measure distances. Places where the outline is not closed are marked in red. Free, no sign-up, and the file never leaves your computer.
Drop a DXF file here
ASCII DXF from any CAD program. The file stays in your browser.
How the viewer works
- Drag a DXF file onto the box or open it with “Choose file”.
- Check the unit. If the file names none, the viewer assumes millimetres; if the sizes look wrong, pick the right one.
- Click two points to measure. Corners, centres and the four quadrant points of every circle snap. Drag to pan, scroll or pinch to zoom.
- When everything fits, “Get a price” opens the drawing in the sketcher. Choose material and thickness there and you see what the part costs.
What the viewer shows
- The size of the part, without construction lines such as centre lines.
- Cut length, area and the number of holes and cut-outs, once the outline is closed.
- Every circle by diameter, for example 4 × Ø 6.5 mm, so you can check the holes at a glance.
- Open ends in red: a line stops there without meeting another.
- What the file holds that will not be cut: text, hatches and dashed construction lines.
Which DXF files it reads
ASCII DXF from any common CAD program, such as AutoCAD, Fusion 360, FreeCAD or Inkscape. It reads lines, arcs, circles, ellipses, splines and polylines, including those inside blocks. It cannot open binary DXF files or DWG.
The viewer reads the file with the same import as our upload page, so what it shows is exactly what we would cut. How to export a clean DXF is in the guide How to prepare a DXF for laser cutting, and the minimum sizes for holes and bridges are in the design guidelines.
DXF viewer questions
- Is the DXF viewer free?
- Yes, with no sign-up and no limit. We offer it because many people who look at a DXF also want the part cut, and the price is one click away.
- Is my file uploaded?
- No. The viewer reads the file in your browser and sends us nothing. If you open it in the sketcher with “Get a price”, the sketcher sends only figures such as area and cut length to work out the price. We receive the drawing itself only when you save or order the part.
- How accurate are the measurements?
- The viewer uses the coordinates in the file and shows them rounded to a hundredth of a millimetre. Splines and elliptical arcs are split into short straight lines that stay within 0.05 mm of the curve, so a measurement between points on such a curve can be off by that much.
- Why are some places marked in red?
- A line ends there without joining another. For laser cutting the outline must be closed, otherwise it is not clear what is part and what is scrap. Usually it is a tiny gap or a doubled line. You can close it in the sketcher or in your CAD program.
- Can I edit the drawing too?
- Yes. “Get a price” opens it in the sketcher, where you can change sizes, add holes and download the result as a DXF again. To start a new drawing, go to Create a DXF.
