Flat Bars With Slots, Cut to Size
A flat bar with a row of slots instead of fixed holes; the template is called "Slotted Bar" in the configurator. Slots leave room to adjust, so the part finds its position only when the screws are tightened. Drilled and milled, a bar like this is handwork; the laser cuts the outline and every slot in one pass.
What it is for: Adjustable brackets and supports, tensioners for belts and chains, mounting rails for lights and signs, adjustment plates for motors and sensors, fixing strips on fences and gates, wall rails where something should slide.

The limits that matter for this bar
- Size: 20 to 1000 mm long, 10 to 400 mm wide, corner radius up to 50 mm.
- Slots: 1 to 12 in one row, centred and evenly spaced, all the same size. Width from 2 mm to 70 % of the bar width, with at least 4 mm of web between two slots. The configurator's slot length is only the straight part between the round ends; the overall length is that plus the width. Staggered rows or slots across the bar are drawn in the sketcher.
- Material and thickness: steel DC01 1 to 2.5 mm, structural steel S355MC 3 to 6 mm, stainless 1.4301 1 to 5 mm, aluminium AlMg3 1 to 4 mm. No threads, no countersinks.
- Tolerance: ISO 2768-m, so the slot width holds ±0.2 mm and the slot spacing over 500 mm ±0.8 mm. For an M8 screw take 8.5 to 9 mm width so it slides even at the edge of the tolerance.
- Flat only: we do not bend an angle with slots yet. Deburring is available and worth it from 3 mm thickness.
Common questions about slotted flat bars
- How wide does the slot have to be for my screw?
- About 0.5 to 1 mm more than the screw: 6.5 mm for M6, 8.5 to 9 mm for M8, 10.5 to 11 mm for M10. The length sets how far you can adjust: a 9 × 35 mm slot gives an M8 27 mm of travel. In the configurator that is slot width 9 and slot length 26, since there only the straight part counts.
- Is it real flat bar?
- It is sheet cut to the width of a flat bar. Unlike rolled flat bar it has sharp, laser-cut edges instead of rounded rolled ones, and you get any width, not just the standard ones. In 3 to 6 mm it is structural steel S355MC, stronger than the usual S235.
- Can the slots run across or in two rows?
- In the template they run lengthwise in one row. In the sketcher you can turn them, move them or add a second row; the price follows at once.
- Can I get the bar bent into an angle?
- Not yet, we only cut flat at the moment. Bending is in preparation; until then, combine the bar with a standard angle bracket.
